Semper skateboarding

Semper (latin: “always”) is a skateboard company, founded by Szymon a.k.a. “Rodzyn” Jaros, who has always been a “skate photographer” to me. You know how it is nowadays – some guy starts shooting really nice pics, and then 3 years later he’s gone, because he discovered that you can ride a bicycle. And the skateboard scene lost another photographer.

This is not the case with Rodzyn. Szymon is a representative of the generation of solid individuals, who follow their own ideas, and are certain of their rightness.

Back in the days during a lot of huge skateboard competitions (like Münster Monster Mastership), on the streetcourse there was a guy dressed in something which looked like some kind of fishing outfit, with a camera, who was constantly (always by accident) getting in the way of practicing pro skaters. That was Rodzyn. He was 100% convinced that he was doing the right thing – he wanted to get these photos. And although many years have passed, and he is not getting in the way of skaters anymore, has a family now, inside he still remains the same – he is sure he is doing the right thing. And this is a golden feature in these times full of emotionally uncertain people. In 2010 Szymon started his own project Semper, without any huge fireworks, without stress, without big marketing – just making boards and sponsoring skaters. Since then, many companies came to life, and then disappeared. But Semper is still here. Skateboarding and travelling with a skate-mindset.

Why this intro? Because a couple of weeks ago, they released their second video (no, not a Instagram clip, but a video). Semper has this kind of rule, that a couple of times a year the team gets together and they travel to cool places to skate. Thanks to this, there is a lot of nice architecture in this vid, which makes it nice to watch:

I am honoured and grateful for having a line in this video. Thank you Semper, thank you skateboarding!

La Casita

Some places to skate are so unique that they stay in your memory forever. One of such spots is the Andalucian La Casita. This DIY has been built in an abandoned villa on top of one of the hills surrounding Fuengirola. The story I have heard is that this used to be an office of […]

Skateboarding in Tbilisi, Georgia. Part 2/2

Food & drinks As basically all countries in the world, also Georgia has big supermarkets and McDonald’s with the same stuff you find everywhere, but they’re not the utmost catalyst for opening your mind and world discovery. So, local stuff only. It looks like Georgian food is pretty unspoiled by all the “modern” society ingredients. […]
